Grandi Salumifici Italiani was founded to become the reference company in the world of Italian cured meats.
A company of significant dimensions, able to express the best “know-how” of the territories to which it belongs and to concentrate great entrepreneurial energy: values which together form the uniqueness and power of Italian art of cured meat.
On 1st January 2001, with this mission, Unibon and Senfter gave life to an initially commercial and then productive partnership, bringing together experiences, resources and identifying products of the territories of origin, Emilia and Alto Adige. After this, GSI acquires and mergers with other companies in the sector, not only in those territories but also in Tuscany and Friuli.
In 2018, after almost two decades of collaboration, Unibon acquired the share of Senfter of GSI, becoming its sole owner and starting a strategic plan aimed at strengthening its role as national “food”, player and to stimulate its expansion in foreign markets, in traditional products and in innovative sectors.
At the beginning of 2019 the strategic plan sees its second phase:
the merger of Grandi Salumifici Italiani and Parmareggio, the Bonterre Group was founded. A total cooperative ownership and strongly rooted in the Modena area, Bonterre is an agri-food group specialising in the Italian excellences of cured meats and aged cheese, able to combine proven industrial ability with high social responsibility standards.
